Man Sues Movie Theatre Over Price of Snacks

After paying $8.00 for a soda pop and a box of candy, a Michigan man is suing AMC Theatres with the hope of lowering the price of snacks. The man alleges that concessions purchased in movie theaters are too expensive–amounting to price gouging, which is illegal under the ‘Michigan Consumer Protection Act’ and has filed a class action lawsuit in a state court. The statute prohibits charging the consumer a price that is grossly in excess of the price at which similar property or services are sold.
